Hi guys cube counting is usually straight forward for me but I can't seem to find how this is supposed to only have 8 cubes that have 3 sides painted. I found nine and marked the ones I thought had 3 sides painted. Can someone please tell me what I'm missing?

A cube will never be unsupported. It's either on the "ground" or on top of another cube. So the cube you've marked with a vertical red line can't just be floating over nothing, we know there must be a cube underneath to support it.

EDIT: unless you meant the cube on its immediate right, in which case...it's just there. You can see the lines and everything.

Take a closer look. Your eyes are playing tricks on you. The cube to "it's right" is visible. It's the one with 2 sides(front/back), with 2 other cubes on top.
