I've answered 800+ q's on qbank and my average is 67%. I don't know if this is good or bad at this stage in studying. At my school 67% is equivelent to failing a class. I'm not taking the comlex and usmle until late june, so I have time to fill in some holes. What does the comlex and usmle hit hard? I've heard path for the usmle and pharm/micro for the comlex. If you were in my shoes what would you focus on? 😕
Hi there,
I had a little over two weeks to study for and take USMLE Step I. I used only Q-Bank. I took 50-question tests and then reviewed my results. I used my missed questions to make a test when I had missed 50. If I missed the question again, I wrote down the subject and reviewed it.
I did not obsess about my Q-Bank percentages since I obviously did better on the tests that were missed questions than on many of the originial tests. In the end, I did all of the questions and reviewed only those things that appeared to be weaknesses for me.
You cannot predict where your tests will focus. Path is well represented but you need to know Physio and Pharm well too. Biochemistry is there and so is some Anatomy (Neuro and Gross). There are always a few questions from Behavioral Science.
In the end, I did very, very well on USMLE Step I. I just forced myself to stop obsessing about a percentage and any predictions. In the end, the only test percentage that matters is the actual test. I got a good night's sleep the night before the exam, walked into the test center and took the thing.
You have passed your courses, you review for USMLE and you take the test. Find some way of doing some major chilling for a couple of hours (preferably at the end of your study period) and stop beating up on yourself because of a percentage.
Good luck! You will be fine.
