Ok, I've been working with Qbank for a couple of months and have found the questions to be quite difficult, and in some cases somewhat purposely deceiving. Then today, we had to take a comprehensive end of year exam in which we had to show up at school and take a 100 question test which was administered by the NBME. After taking the test, I found it to be quite fair, and it made me feel a whole lot better about Step 1.

I can only assume that since NBME wrote the test and that NBME adminsters Step 1, that the actual board exam is similar to the one I took today.

So my question is, is Kaplan Q-bank demonstrably harder than Step 1 in anyone's opinion who has taken Step 1, and if so WHY? My personal opinion is, it's their way of marketing additional materials. There's even links on the qbank site basically offering for sale, additional study materials from Kaplan.

In any case, I guess I would rather find the boards to be easier than qbank, than to walk into the actual exam less prepared than I should be, but it's still anxiety provoking to study a section of material rather intensely, and then only make a 70-80% routinely on qbank.
