QR = 14....Am I ok?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
great scores...but what happened to QR? did you walk out or something lol

QR is the least important section on the DAT, but 14 might not meet the minimum score for some schools, even though your other sections are excellent. However, I wouldn't recommend taking the DAT again just for the QR, risking all of your other sections to go down. With your scores and GPA, you will definitely get in somewhere.

The low score will probably hurt your chance, but you are not in the worst shape because of decent GPAs and other scores.

QR is a bunch of crapola. Don't worry about it.

I had a friend get accepted to 4 dental schools last year with an 11 in QR. Another got accepted with a 14 in pat. So don't sweat it.

I wouldn't sweat it. I had a similar GPA, made a 14 QR and 15 PAT (18AA/18TS) and was accepted to 4 schools. This was 2 years ago, but I don't think things have changed that much. Good luck.

Thanks guys....I feel better now. These score were so good...I would hate to have to retake it just for that stupid QR score...

Yes, do NOT retake unless your #1 tells you to, but they won't because not many really value QR scores as they do the rest. If it was RC or biology, I'd say otherwise. You did poorly in the best section to do so.

PS You did AWESOME! You should be proud!

being socially awkward has a greater negative impact than a QR 14

mind if i ask you which schools accepted you with that 14 in QR??? thanks!

what schools did you apply to? which accepted you?

Bio- 22
GC- 20
Org- 22
PAT- 20
RC- 23
QR-14
TS- 22
AA- 20

Is that 14 gonna hurt my chances?... I have a 3.84 GPA, 3.6 in the sciences..
Duh, you already have 3/3 interviews which means the 14 on QR is OK for those schools. All you need to do is to show up and show some personality, and be able to explain why you messed up your QR if asked about it.
Good Luck.

i think you will be fine...all of your other scores are above a 20, so i wouldn't sweat it. in my opinion, the risk of taking the test over and going down in some sciences, just to improve your QR is not worth it...UNLESS your first choice requests you do so, or has a minimum requirement. one thing i would advise is to think about why your QR was so low, and be ready to answer that question in EVERY interview, because it WILL undoubtedly come up.

best of luck...

i wouldn't concern yourself, lol i got a 15 in that section haha, definitely did not even look at it before i took the exam, and on my interview they just said you have very good Dat scores and an impressive Gpa...they really don't care about QR

Yeah, I posted this a long time ago when I had just taken the test. After going to two interviews, I have found out that its not that big of a deal. One even told me not to worry about it and it will have no impact on my application whatsoever!
