Q. A and B earn $1800 together and spend 60% and 80% on their salaries respectively. If their saving are in 5:2 ratio, the salary of A?

here is my calculation
First equation X +Y = 1800
Second equation
(0.4x)*5 = (0.2Y)*2

here is CDM calculation
(0.4x)*2 = (0.2Y)*5

who is right and could you give me an explanation to support your answer?

since the ratio of Saving A:Saving B = 5:2, SavingA/SavingB = 5/2.

40% of A and 20% of B goes to savings.
Therefore, 0.4A/0.2B = 5/2.

0.4A (2) = 0.2B (5) is correct.
