He is a worst & terrible instructor. He just read the text explanation w/o his own discipline. Nightmare !

PPL on SDN teachs a way better than him.

Anyway, Question.

A shop keeper sells cashews at $36/kg and bears a loss of 10%. If he sells it at $40 / kg what will be incur?

Wouldnt he just break even.... 10% of 40 = $4.... which represents the 10% loss when he sold at $36....

Poster above is correct. Here's the math way to do it if you don't want to guess / educated guess:

A loss of 10% means it was sold at 90% of the value.

So 36 = 90% of what?

36/x = 90/100
36/x = 9/10
x = 40

So 40 is the value at which he breaks even. Luckily enough, that's the value they ask you about.

Had it been any other number (let's call it 'y') then you'd set up:

y/40 = %/100

Here you'd put the value in the question into the variable 'y' and solve for the missing percentage.
