I have the Math Destroyer from Orgoman and I am starting to panic on QR. I'm scoring really good on all sections....EXCEPT QR. I'm on Test #4 on Math Destroyer and I'm still completely lost. I can only get about 1 out of every 3 correct. I feel like I know most of the formulas, rules of triangles/exponets/etc, however, it takes me FOREVER to get through each problem. I suck with probability, inequalities, and velocities (when going 3mph for so long then it switches to 10 mph the other way against wind etc). This is starting to REALLY worry me. Anyone have any advise?

I just took the QR on the ADA site and it seemed fairly simple compared to destroyer (which I expected). I scored 20/40 which is the equivalent of 300. Is the ADA sample "somewhat" comparable to the actual OAT? The ADA sample seemed to have a LOT of "solve for x", which I'm decent at.

on my test, I just made sure to skip all the questions that looked long and only did the ones that were easy and went back to the long ones at the end. you just have to practice on speed with math, there are some questions that can be solved with less work than it looks

I did Kaplan practice, and was often unable to get much further than half done- cause like you say it IS really hard to be time efficient with it. On the real OAT though the QR section is just so much easier, lots of quick problems versus the super long practice ones. (I ended up with a 350 on that section- not too bad) So, do tons of problems for practice but don't take it too much to heart what your actual "score" is. Do the official OAT practice from the OPTED site once you feel like you're all done preparing, and that's the score that will be closest to your actual. (naturally, cause it's a past version of the real thing!) Good Luck!

On my test, the QR section was so much easier than in my Kaplan practice tests. I still could have brushed up some more on my trig identities but otherwise the problems were much less time consuming than the ones I used for practice. Try not to stress too much 😀

My biggest words of advise are DO NOT GET HUNG UP ON A QUESTION. if you spend an extra 2 or 3 minutes on the first or second question because you "know you know it" you're losing time for the rest of the questions that could be easy! you know more than you think- the QR is the biggest test against time...so as soon as you see the question and you think you don't know it or it's going to take too much time-- SKIP IT..and come back later...

I did the math destroyer tests too, and what I would recommend is to do the questions, and the ones that you commonly miss- try and figure out why. My biggest thing "waste" of time was trying to memorize how to do certain problems that I didn't understand--don't memorize...try to see if there is a different approach to them..one that makes more sense to you.

Instead of looking at your weaknesses, check out your strength's..and master those. Keep doing problems over and over...and do as much as the math as you can in your head so when it comes to test day, you are saving time doing the calculations quickly in your head or on the scratch paper, opposed to on the calculator (cuz that calc will take up pointless time if you enter something wrong or whatnot)

Memorize the 30/60/90 triangles and 45/45/90 and write them down at the beginning or on your break so you don't have to spend time trying to figure out details while your testing...

hey just wanted to add on to this thread if i may!

i'm retaking my OAT May 28th and I'm getting really scared about the QR section. I also remember it being a bit wordy and also practice questions from the regular OAT Destroyer I feel like I"m taking too long on =/

i'm just wondering if anyone could give me any advice? does it seem worth it to get the Math Destroyer? or perhaps the Chad's videos for math if anyone's ever purchased them and can share whether it was effective for problem solving for the QR section?

thanks a bunch!!

Math Destroyer is the best thing you can get! It's AWESOME. Most of the questions on the test, I had seen before with math destroyer.

Well, great work! You have helped me to improve my knowledge about this field. Thank you so much for sharing.
