A shirt sells for $35 and the store charges 8% sales tax. If the shirt is on sale at a discount of 10% off, how much would you save?

A) $3.50
B) $3.78
C) $6.30
D) $31.50
E) $31.78

Thank you!!

When the store charges 8% sales tax, what is the new price of the shirt?
$35(100%+8%) = $35(1+.08)=$35(1.08)
Shirt+tax = $35(1.08) = $37.80
If the shirt is at a 10% discount, then 1/10th of the shirt+tax price is how much you save.
$37.80/10 = $3.78 = B)
