what do i need to study for the QR section. i took the kaplan tests and i can't even finish the damn thing. i get through twenty questions before my time runs out please help

Bro..i know how u feel...ahaha too bad my test is next monday..looks like i focused wayyy too much on sciences and PAT...this QR is really giving me some last minute kick in the butt..

I went out and bought the GRE GMAT Kaplan Math Workbook and the Barrons's Math World Problems book..they both seem awesome..with lots of practice..and have been recommeded the the other SDNer veterans of DAT ( and man..these people do awesome)

Now my question is:

What forumulas if any do we need to know..i know we need to know trig crap..and like volume area of different things..but what about celsius to F and that kind of thing..anything outside the norm?

Also, it Topscore similar to the Real thing...or is the real QR easier then topscore

The math section of the DAT was much simpler on the real thing compared to Topscore and Kaplan. Keep in mind that you don't have calculators so it would be ludicrous for the test writers make it too complex. That said, I finished with plenty of time to spare and thought I did really good on it, only to find out that it was my worst subject (18). Don't stress too much on it though. Afterall, who needs in depth math skills to be a dentist?

Dool, I posted some suggestiong on Predental forum regarding QR, you might find it helpful🙂

Dentaldreams, I think many of will agree that QR on the real test is both a little harder and easier. I think it is easier because it doensn't question you on many formulas you might know. I hardly had any questions requiring to find volumes of complecated objects. But I thought the QR on the real test was harder, because I was totally tired from the previous sections and you need all the concentration you can get. Many of the problems were straight forward but required much calculation, and that takes time. Top SCORE QR is pretty close to the real thing, but without the weird geometry and probablity problems (some of the prb problems on the topscore were very weird, requiring you to do like combinations and stuff) I have simple red ball and white ball problem.
Regarding the formulas, well you can spend like 20 min memorizing the volumes and stuff, i think you should be
ok.

Good luck,

Balki
