how do you do #28 in math section from the sample ADA test from the webiste? Are we supposed to assume it's a right triangle? Thanks.

Hey man, how's your studies coming along? I'm going hardcore at this because game day for me is on the 23rd.

Yeah, I would assume it is, since the 30 degrees is there, & the 90 degrees are both given, so that implies that the 3rd angle is 60

hey how do u know that one angle is 90 degrees and not 89 or 91? iss that what you assumed? cuz u said its ''given''.

man i hardly studied last week, im trying to get back on the track. but i might have to postpone my test a week or two. you seem to know your stuff, u wil do well.

Hey Allstar, thanks man, I really hope so, I read in kaplan's sat book, that they expect you go spot those special triangles, I'm guessing the way the figure is drawn, it should be implied that it is a right triangle with one of the angles measuring 90 degrees. Since we don't have access to a calculator, its safe to say they won't give us any numbers way out there, the numbers are typically easy to work with. Sadly, this freakin qr is my weakness, but I'm getting better little by little, hoping to push an 18 on it atleast. I've been going at this hardcore, you have no idea because I didn't do as hot as I wanted to last year:

Bio - 19
G chem - 17 (careless mistakes)
Orgo - 16 (careless mistakes)
Rc - 18
Qr 15 🙁
PAT - 12
TS - 18
AA - 17

How are you doing with your qr & everything else, good?

I feel you, on the postponing part, heh, I can postpone mine, but Sept 23 is the last day available for this month, ::sighs::.

QR is okay for me b/c im an engineer but my RC is pretty crap. I have been trying different methods but I havent been getting the score I want... but anyways if you have questions about gchem or QR, let me know.

the correct way to do is this.
cos x = adjacent/hypotenuse
so set up

cos 30 = (5+x)/14
(3)^(1^2)/2 = (5+x)/14
then times 14 by both side
7* (3^(1/2)) = 5+x
and x= 7 * (3^(1/2)) - 5

then substituete into pythatorean theorem
14^2= (7*(3^(1/2)))^2 + b^2
196 = (49 *3) + b^2
49 = b^2
7 = b= BC
man, my math is so good but my biology sucks. i have amnesia so i suck at biology. anyone want to trade my knowledge for math with biology? heheheh
hope this helps

if ure using cos/sin, that means ure assuming its a right triangle. if it's a right triangle u can simply just do sin30 =x/hyp. my point is whether we should assume its a right triangle or not. if it's a right triangle(i know it is a right triangle from working backwards), this problem is a cake.
