An architect draws a blueprint so tha 3 and 1/8 inches represents 125 feet, how many square inches are used to represent the area of a room 20 ft by 20 ft?

How many times does 125 go into 20?
20/125 = 0.16
Therefore 0.16 of 3 and 1/8 inch is how large each side of the square will be.
3 and 1/8 is same as 3 + 1/8 therefore you say
0.16(3 + 1/8) = 0.16(3) + 0.16(1/8) = 0.48 + 0.2 = 0.5 inches per side
but the area of the square will be 0.5 X 0.5 = 0.25 square inches AKA 1/4 sq inches.
