I've been working on the DAT math destroyer and I time myself every time I take one of the section test. I am constantly getting on 24 out of 40 (on first 3 test) because I simply don't have enough time. I was just seeing if anyone had some advise on how I should study this DAT destroyer. Is it way harder than the actually DAT or just about the same? I wanted to just make sure I am putting myself in testing conditions so I can do well on the actual exam.

Thanks,

DAT math destroyer is probably harder than actual DAT QR section, though I don't know by how much.
DAT Math destroyer > DAT Destroyer QR > Actual DAT in terms of difficulty.
When I test myself on DAT Destroyer QR section, I get about 3,4 wrong but on DAT Math Destroyer, I got about 5,6 wrong...
For me, DAT math destroyer was definitely harder.

but getting 24 out of 40 is kinda not good... i dunno how much you got, but you might wanna start with dat destroyer first... or I heard Chad's math videos offer shortcuts to attack QR problems..

Hope that helps..

really? DAT destroyer QR is harder than the actual in your opinion? ive read some people say the actual DAT is more like the math destroyer?

yeah that's what i heard too, i'm hoping that the DAT destroyer QR is hard than the actual DAT bc I do that pretty easy. The Math Destroyer is insanely hard even though when I go over the answers I realize it's not that bad.

omg thats exactly how i feel right now...i started math destroyer and was just like W-T-F...and stopped and just went to the solutions and it didnt seem as bad, but still seemed like overkill......after searching, many say Math Destroyer is like the actual but I think they mean it prepares you more for the problems youll see - I don't think the difficult is as high or problems as complex - not sure though - just what I've gathered from a couple threads on the subject and I hope I'm right.....If it's like the Destroyer QR, I'm pretty set but just have to speed it up a little more.

someone said the DAT QR is easier than Kaplan's QR, which I found to be about the same as the Destroyer's QR. I noticed that Chad's videos doesnt cover ellipses, does that mean they won't be on the real DAT?

Are you trying to figure out every single problem even when you only have a slight idea of how to do it? This was my mistake when I first started the QR section. My recommendation is for you just to do all the ones you know and by that, I mean the ones where you instantly know exactly how to do them. For all the other ones, guess C or whatever you feel like and mark them so that you can come back to answer them after you've seen ALL 40 questions. They always sneak some super easy ones in the end so it's honestly so silly not to give yourself the chance to see them all. I was scoring i think around 18 when I first started and ended up with a 23 on the actual DAT.

GL!

im doing QR right now and this post ^^ sums up how it should be...i know the majority of the problems but then i get something like A (upside down U) B and have NO idea what it is....go to solutions- its simple as hell...just the common elements....youll feel much better after going over the solutions a few times and your speed and scoring will consequently pick up too.....im devoting all day today to just Math and QR to basically get the concepts im not familiar with down so these problems dont seem so foreign to me.....youll do better on successive run-throughs guaranteed (as long as youre thoroughly going over solutions)

theyre obviously not always the simplest of solutions...im still trying to grasp mixture problems 100%, so repetition and practice is key

As a recent test taker here are some pointers

The only thing to add is that the actual test asks you a couple questions on statistics and number theory.

for example:

-What does the p value mean? (From a normal distribution)

-If (a+b)^2 = 5 and (a-b)^2 = 10 what must be true for a and b?

-And if a < b and c is a negative number what must be true

My only tip is that try looking at ways to using shortcuts in ur calculations

For examble whenever u multiply by 25 u divide the other number by 4 and add 25,50,75 at the end for remainders 1,2,3 respectively

When u multiply by 15 u multiply the number by ten and add its half to it

Etc etc the number shortcuts goes on

Never use the calculator unless its a radical problem

Also dont panic when u see decimals try to covert them into fractions so that u can easily reduce the numbers and get a much simpler answer

Also remember this is ur last section ur brain isnt going to function as well as u would like. try to keep that concentration level throughout and push through

Also practice solving them with pen b/c the markers are horrible to erase so get used to write efficiently and quickly

Hope this helps

Best
