a shopkeeper sold a tV for 3125 $ with a 10% discount and made a 8% profit. if no disount was given , what would have been his profit percent?

Let x be the actual price of the TV without the discount and profit:

X - .1X + .08X = $3125
.98X = $3125
X = $3188

So the price of TV without the discount and just the profit would be:

$3188 x 1.08 = $3443

What is not clear in the question is whether the 3125 includes the 10% discount, or doesn't include the 10% discount.

no actually the answer is 20% profit. this is a crack Math problem, it might be wrong though

this is how they solve it, which it does not make any sense to me:
if the cost price and marked price are x and y:
1080=1-08x ----->x=1000
1080=0.9y------->x=1200
y-x=200profit---->200x100/1000=20%
