Hi guys I was wondering if I could get some input here as I plan to go to med school.

1)Got in @ ERC for UCSD for Biochem.
2)Got in Bio Sciences @ UCI
3)Got in Pre Bio @ UCSB

I like SD as my first choice for its excellent programs and all the opportunities for research and volunteer/internships, but I'm a bit intimidated by MMW because of its notorious workload (This could be a problem for me when trying to focus on other classes and keep my GPA up?). I'd also like to know if it's common for ERC biochem students to graduate in 4 years because I don't plan to stay for 5+. I read people complain about ERC because their GEs are geared to help humanity majors more than that of science, but I'm conflicted on whether or not the GEs at ERC even matter and that going to SD is good in it of itself for my pre med path.

Any input or thoughts by past or current students on where I should go, or more specifically on my ERC/biochem situation, would be really helpful! Thanks!

/idk if this was posted in the right area 😕

Did you get into the honors program for any of them? I got into honors for UCI and UCSB, and both of the programs offered preferential class registration. That might be something you want to look into. All of these schools are honestly really good for sciences, but if graduating on time is a priority to you, I would choose a school that gave you honors.

I didn't get into honors for any of them. But I think I can always be offered honors later during the year though am I right?

Yes, I seem to remember that you can apply later in the year. UCSD might be more difficult since it's the most academically competitive of the three. However, I also seem to remember that it's usually pretty easy to switch schools at UCSD, so if you really wanted to go there, you could probably look into switching to a school that has less humanities requirements.

Really? I've read the opposite. You can only apply to transfer out after your first year or something like that, and it would take you longer to graduate because of that wasted year on core curric you don't need.
Thanks though for your responses. Have you decided on where you're going?

And I'm still hoping to hear from UCI/ UCSB/ UCSD students on their thoughts though! Obv not the "go to my school, its the best" response but more meaningful insight.
