What qualities would you/ do you like, in your dental class president. I don't want someone who puts themselves above the class (which I have heard happening all to many times.)

I was class president for 2 years and think I did pretty well. The key for me was communication - letting the rest of the class know what was coming up, what to expect, etc. We consolidated the exam schedule and just tried to make dental school a little less painful - threw a couple social events and stuff. I also got to know most of the instructors/administrators and talked with them regularly about things that were concerning the class. There was plenty of BS, but for the most part I enjoyed doing it.

I would say being welling to do it would be a main issue.

By my last year nobody wanted the job. As a result we did not have a class president in the last year.

Big picture person, a lot of people get caught up on the small things. A good leader will delegate people to handle small detail stuff that can be fixed more quickly while working on more overriding issues that likely won't be solved in the few years you are in dental school.
