How do publications in quality improvement project publications look for applying pre-meds? Do they have a strong impact (given the applicant is solid in other categories)? Like any other publication? Are they more beneficial for research-oriented schools, lower ranked schools, etc?

I surmise that any peer reviewed publication is looked upon favorably. I know of an SDNer who did zero scientific research, but had several public policy papers and got into UCSF.
