Ok this is hOW hard math was..
1) I scored 95% in GR.12 math
2)A in First semester Calculus
3)Taking second semester Calculus right now (probably will get A or A+)
I found the math section to be INSANELY hard, there were very complex questions with all kinds of stuff you have to solve. Much harder than any of the prep book math sections. Also time is an issue, so there isnt much you can do. TOUGH, thats all i gotta say....

There are several different forms of the test, and they grade accordingly. The first time I took it, it was friggin HARD. The second time, all I had was fraction additions and simple limits. It''s harder to make a better grade on the easy one though, cause the group they are grading you against probably thought it was easier too.
don't worry everyone...i took the october exam and i thought quantitative was super hard...not that the questions were difficult but to finish all the questions in such a short amount of time was ridiculous! i have my bachelor's and my minor was math (calc I through IV, linera algebra, theory, discrete math, etc.) and that section still kicked my butt! so don't feel bad..you're not alone...just be glad it's all over...if i don't get in this cycle i'll be right there along side anyone else taking the pcat again in june!
I ran out of time as well with about 10 questions, and I thought math would be my best section.

If u're talking bout the exam on saturday 01/20/07, the math was a butt kicker. Too much calc 4 me. I had to bubble in bout 12 last answers cos i'm very slow in maths.
Also did not know we had to study statistics.
I did a great job on math. I am sure I did very well, and I even had 7 minutes left to finish 2 hard and long questions and i got them too. Math was not easy, but I have learned math for 12 years since i was a child, that is why i familiar with any even hard questions. I did ok on verbal and bio because english is my second language. I also did great on chem, I had 3 year organic chem in high school. It seemed that we dont have enough time for 58 questions, but a lot of them you just looked at and knew the answer. Reading is good too. I had 6 minutes left to review. I read a whole anatomy book so i am pretty good at reading stuffs.
The only part that i am pissed off is writing. I misunderstand the topic. I dont know what "peer pressure" is. How bad I am. However, I still finished this section. I dont know how much I got for this part. 😕

yeah same here...I didn't have any problems with the time limit on practice tests, so I don't know what happened on the actual PCAT...stress? difficulty level? argh who knows. I didn't even have enough time to bubble in guesses for the last couple 🙁
I didn't have problems with finishing the practice tests either. It wasn't stress (for me anyways). It was more difficult, but that wasn't the problem. It was more time consuming than the practice tests math was. If you didn't know exactly how to work the problem the second you looked at it, you might as well have skipped it. You had no time to 'think about how to work it'. If it wasn't automatic, you should move on. That's exactly what Kalpan says to do and that's exactly what I didn't do. If I need to take it again, I won't repeat that mistake. I had an answer for every question, but the last 8 or so were total guesses with out even looking at the questions. I don't even know if they were easy or hard questions, lol.yeah same here...I didn't have any problems with the time limit on practice tests, so I don't know what happened on the actual PCAT...stress? difficulty level? argh who knows. Was it just me, or was this section ridiculously difficult for a 50 minute exam?
umm, I'm pretty sure ours was only 35 mins.
are you sure it was 50 mins? Are all of them supposed to be?
I think we only got 35 minutes too. I go to school in Colorado but had to drive an hour to Laramie, WY because they didn't offer a test in Denver this January (even though in Oct. they did one in Denver?!?). I remember thinking that I must be confused when the proctor said..."you will have 35 minutes for this section", because I gave myself 50 minutes on all the practice exams. Who knows!
I honestly wouldn't be suprised if we got 35mins. It didn't seem like 50mins at all. Reading Comp I didn't breeze right through it with tons of time left, but I remember thinking it was taking forever. Math it seemed like that '15 mins left' got put up on the chalk board pretty quick.

If you got 35 minutes, you are pretty damn unlucky. We got a full 50 minutes, and even then I struggled.

If you really believe that you only got 35 minutes for the math section, then I would call Harcourt BEFORE your results come out so at least they can call the proctors of the examination (not that they would tell the truth). But if they had enough people that called and said that they only received 35 minutes on that section when it was supposed to be 50 I would think they would investigate it.
I thought my testing center only gave us 35 minutes too!! Cause she called 5 minutes to go and i still had like 22 questions left! So i def picked up the pace from "Haulin'" to "Panic" mode! hahaha
My testing center was at Ferris State University in MI.... and only had 35 mins... where is everyone else at that had 35 mins?!

I'm not sure calling them and reporting it would do you any good, even if it turned out that this was the case with the 35 minute thing. They would have no standard to compare your results to inorder to equate a percentile score. I bet they would simply invalidate the scores and people would get hosed, but maybe not. I took the exam on Jan 20, got 50 min on Quant. I wish these guys would Just take the GRE got 1930 on the three parts with a 700 on the quant on it. Took it about 4 years ago. Last time I had a math class or even a chemistry course was close to 10 years ago. I got 50 on the math with a composite of 87(Did reasonably well on every thing else). I'm chalking it up to a stomach flu and I think I mis bubbled the key in October on the Math. So I retook it in January to improve it because the school I applied to looks at more than just the composite. I don't think the questions are all that difficult, it's a lack of adequate time and a calculator that I found most frustrating.

You guys, things could turn out okay. I had to bubble in at least five non-educated guesses and I got a 96. I know I had to make an educated guess on a couple others.
The curve can be your friend (as long as you aren't on the other end of it).🙂

I took the test last October, and the quant was harder than I thought it would be. As much as I recommend the Kaplan guide, it did not cover some of the math that was on the test. I still did decently, but that could only have come through some damn fine guesswork. To be fair, the calculus was pretty low-level. . .but some of the things needed just had to have been memorized. You can't re-derive much in that limited [no pun] amount of time.
Take home message: Go over a bit more calculus than the guides cover.
