Did anyone take a Quantitative Reasoing course at their college? Was it helpful in preparing for the DAT?

I won't get credit for that class since I have gotten credit in Calculus I, so is it worth taking or would it be a waste of time? (P.S. I find the QR to be quite challenging).

Huge waste of time... that's the least important part of the DAT and the class won't help much anyway.

Depending on the school, qr could be completely meaningless. I got a 14, but BU, Creighton, and Buffalo told me they don't care about it at all. I guess it would be smart to do really well on it though since it makes your AA look much better (or in my case much worse).

I just finished taking quantitative reasoning this semester and I really don't think it would have helped me on the DAT. A good refresher in Trig. would be beneficial in my opinion. (I had a ton of Q's dealing with Trig.!!) If you have a good base in algebra and can handle word problems, you should be fine. Just take a ton of practice tests that simulate the real test. Good luck.

I forgot to add...At one of my interviews, the interviewer told me they really don't worry too much about the quantitative portion on the DAT. Definitely AA and total science. Hope that helps.

I wouldn't worry about QR. Several people I know who are in dental school and several more who are already accepted for 2008 only got a 15 or 16 on QR (myself included). Out of all of them I only think 1 was questioned about it at an interview. Best of luck!!!!

While the QR section may not carry as much weight as the rest of the sciences, it is still an important part of your DAT. It's also not something to be taken lightly. A lot of people here on SDN have underestimated the difficulty of the section. Make sure you spend an adequate about of time preparing for the QR section.
