Quantum Numbers: How Important is it for the MCAT?

I was going over General Chemistry and seem to be having a hard time on quantum numbers - yet its not terrible because I keep reading the passage over and over again so it seems to be making sense.

So, how important is this concept, or what should I be focusing on more in terms of Chemistry, ya digg?

It's important to know what they are and what sets of quantum numbers are "possible." For example, n can be any number; l can only be 0, 1, 2, or 3 (s, p, d, f); ml can only be within -l to +l; ms can only be positive or negative 1/2.

If you don't understand the underlying concepts of quantum numbers, you're simply going to be memorizing seemingly meaningless symbols...

I actually should have clarified, I understand the gist of whats going on, I am concerned about what I should look out for the MCAT in terms of quantum numbers because its a concept that underlies within Physics as well - I hope I am not being to vague..

Don't think you'll get anything physics related.

Mostly "what is the [X] quantum number of [Y] electron in [Z] atom?" or "What is the range of possible numbers given [X] principal or azimuthal quantum number?"

Etc.
