how does one differentiate the following on microscopy?😕

1. basal cell carcinoma
2 basaloid squamous cell carcinoma
3. adenoid cystic carcinoma

lookin forward to concrete replies..thx

Are you serious?

I hear they make excellent textbooks these days.

From Personality Types of Residents thread:

I would like to add to the slacker-
They won't do work but make up for it in social colonoscopies, kind of like the fellowship comment- They will not open a textbook and are constantly asking for help- They will probably never learn any real pathology and will kill people but will get a great job due to their ability to say the right thing at the right time-

hey thx thts a nice play of words. BTW sarcasm is the lowest form of witts . So nobody can really help wid this?

Wow. That's all I can say: Wow.

"Play on words."; also known as a pun (which wasn't really evident in that post that you quoted). "Lowest form of wit." Interesting.

I know what can help, but it will cost you. With the amount of time you spent on here, you could have easily looked it up online. I'm really not certain why people post questions that any search would take 20 seconds to answer.

actually this can be very tricky. i even saw memorial screw it up (called adenoid cystic when it was basaloid squamous). bcc usually easier but metastatic bcc may be tricky. immunos help. but read rosai FFS - he addresses this.

if you are having problems i recommend m Wick as a consultant

By looking at the slide.

hush, that is a serious question.

(Clears throat)..Interesting dilemmia you have, by sending all basaloid skin lesions to me for the low low price of 100 dollars per slide I can help you.

please refer to my website: http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/Consult-a-Physician/Doctors.asp?DrID=65

i am sure you'll agree my qualifications defy hyperbole. i'll read the bccs for $80 a pop and throw in my latest textbook half price.

You are Bill Reed?
I have to admit, this has pimp written on it.
Background Information

Dr. Bill Reed was born in Kingsport, Tennessee. He graduated from Tulane University with a BS degree in 1969 and from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1973. Following graduation he did a surgical pathology internship and residency at Stanford University and a clinical pathology residency at University of California, San Diego.

He changed his career path in 1976 by beginning to practice emergency medicine. He practiced emergency medicine in San Diego for the next nineteen years and then stopped to begin the full time pursuit of a career in hair transplantation surgery in 1995.

Questions I have....graduated in 73 yet completed AP and CP AND a surgical pathology fellowship in 3 years before doing Emergency medicine in 76..How is that humanly possible?

And I believe '73 was the very first class of residents at the new Stanford program under Kempson/Dorfman.

That may very well be the craziest CV Ive seen in medicine.

How much do these guys make per case? We've seen two path guys doing hair restoration. What's up with path and male pattern baldness?

That sizzle chest looks pretty good for a 60 year old.... (If he graduated med school in 69 I'd put him at 21 then + around 40 years)

I dig his Hobbies:
Kung fu, inline skating, skiing, hiking, yoga, weight training, anti-aging and mind/body medicine, reading metaphysics and science.

It says he did an internship and residency and then a clinical residency.

It doesn't say he finished anything and doesn't say fellowship..

and 1976 predates EM as a separate field of medicine. I think anyone licensed to practice medicine could be an ER doc back then. I'm pretty sure it wasn't uncommon for lot of people to moonlight in the ER from all sorts of other specialties...

Wild and crazy times..

suffice to say i wish i was Bill. there remains whisper of his legend back at stanford - Bill would get dorfman to go back for lymph nodes and run the bowel etc.
seriously though, how the hell does someone get away with so much bull**** on their cv?

Another pathologist who is a certified "transplant surgeon"

What an awesome quote:

"Dr. Magdalin credits his aesthetic eye and ability to his background in sculpting. "Where my medical and surgical training give me the knowledge and skill to perform the procedure, my sculpture background gives me the eye for creating great hairlines and aesthetically pleasing results."

I would say people willing to believe in the effectiveness of hair transplantation are willing to believe just about anything...

After my community derm rotation, I was seriously considering setting up a weekend botox clinic to make extra $$$... here's my question, how on EARTH would you get malpractice insurance to do anything cosmetic/aesthetic, etc, as a pathologist???

BH! I was thinking the same thing after I heard about a resident in IM who was moonlighting at some Botox clinic. Let's set one up together and we can alternate weekends!

I'm only doing a GU fellowship so I can market my own line of "special part of the male anatomy" enhancement with authority.

I have totally considered selling a line of "private label" vitamins. It was going to be my scheme to afford my current "standard of living" if I decided to move to Boston or San Fran... 🙂

Dr. Yaah's robotic prostates (as referenced (but not seen thankfully) on the Simpsons)

Bart: Nah, you've changed, man.
Homer: Well, I do have this robotic prostate, but you can't see it. [glances downward] Oh, you can.

Get yours today!
