query related to elective programs

am a final year medical student in india(doing mbbs),will be doing internship next year
i wanna know about the elective programs in USA,can they be done during internship,do they require clearing step1 as a pre-requisite???whats the duration for these programs???
and what about the options for externship in USA???are they easily available for foreign graduates...

Some schools waive the Step 1 requirement. You might want to find out what schools in the USA have some sort of understanding with your own medical school, and then go there.
