Well I tried to open a new thread earlier but my computer freaked so here we go again.

About a year ago I was searching through some random D-schools to see if they accepted AP credit, seeing as I have 8 hours of intro AP bio credit, and for the most part all the schools I looked at didnt mention anything about not accepting AP credit. Well recently I went through a few schools and I found that a good amount of them either directly stated or alluded to not accepting AP credit. Im not sure why the first time I didnt get the same results, but Im a little worried now.

Any people have any problems with this when they applied to schools?

Will it make any difference that Im a bio major and will be completeing upper bio classes to "replace" the intro classes if a particular school doesnt accept AP credit?

I know Im jumping the gun a little, but Id like to know ahead of time if this will be a problem. Thanks for lookin.

Chris

I have both my physics requirements from AP credit and when I called UNC (that is the only school I formally checked with) they said that if it is counted as college credit it could be counted as a pre-dental requirement. Just my experience with a similar question. If you're really nervous I would just call the schools you are applying to. Good luck

Well Im not planning on applying until the end of this year (junior year) granted this year goes well, so I dont want to sound a little over zealous. However I think I will need to apply to many schools for best chances of getting in somewhere (again depending on how this year goes). I do have a few specific schools that im almost sure I am going to apply to so I guess I could start there. Thanks for the imput.

Any other experiences/imput?

I'm sitting in the same boat as you and am applying to dental schools for the class of 2007. I know that Stony brook and NYU both accept AP bio credit as long as the institution from which you are sending the transcript has already accepted the AP course (it's listed in your college transcript). Furthermore, I think it would help if you take an advanced course in biology along with a lab to just be sure.

Yeah, AP credit was accepted for my dental school req's. But honestly i wish I had paid more attention in school. Good preparation makes studying for the DAT just that much easier.

Im a bio major so im sure there will be plenty of upper level bio to be taken. It would seem kind of stupid if a school would admit you for not taking intro bio (or chem or whatever) when youve completed/taking upper level stuff. Obviously you know what you are doing in that subject.

i had 16 ap credits which i received credit for at undergrad, and all of the schools i applied to didnt have a problem. i think as long as the credits are on your transcript from undergrad, you're fine.
