question about applying

Ok I've pretty much completed another major but am starting to gain interest in pharmacy school.. I've already taken chem, organic chem, physics, but am short of the math/calc and a biology or two (don't have the sheet next to me). I've heard of many kinds of majors decide to do pharmacy school so is it mandatory to take the pre-req's i'm missing? I'm new to the process.

Yes, many people from all sorts of majors go into pharmacy, but every applicant still has to complete the prereqs. You don't have to have them all completed by the time you start applying for most schools--it's very common to have a few prereq's remaining when you apply, but you must complete them before you actually start pharm school. If we didn't have to finish all of them, it'd defeat the purpose of having prereqs right? 😀

Pre-req's are indeed required, but most should be a breeze for someone with a degree already. I've got an ACS certified degree in biochem, but I was never required to take human anatomy, so i'm fulfilling that requirement now. I've found that the community college is the best bet for someone who already has a degree, since the classes are cheaper, and they allow you to work in the day, and take classes at night. If you haven't graduated yet, try to take the rest of the pre-req's at your four-year college, even if you have to stay another semester. It's much less hastle to remain a full-time student and not have to worry about making loan payments while you're still in school. Good luck.

Glad to see you edited. It always stinks when a thread goes south just because someone doesn't agree with someone else's post. Not that I agreed, just wouldn't have brought it out. It's not worth the other 20 replies not pertaining to OP.

Having said that. Yeah, pretty much prereq's are hard to get an exception for. Not like a CC or four-year where you can pretty much override prereq's if you know the right person.
