Hey guys, So I went to my old college to retake some classes to raise my gpa, and this was the response i got.

Since I already graduated from UCI, and UCI only lets you retake classes with C or lower, if I were to take a class like Chemistry 1B which i got a C+ in, it would have UR next to the course on my transcript meaning "unauthorized retake."

Also, I called registrar and asked the same question, and they said that if i were to retake a class, since my transcript is frozen due to me graduating already, if i were to take any classes there, it would have a M4 next to the class i retake which means that they didnt give me credit for the class and won't be counted toward my UCI gpa.

My question is, does this matter since I'm not trying to raise my uci gpa, but just only to raise my gpa for med school application?

Will the COM admissions see this M4 or UR and think of it any differently?

Anyone from UC's that have retaken a class there before?

Any input would be great help..

AACOMAS assigns a straight-to-the-point GPA to the classes you take and does not use M4 or UR or other designations. All retakes (assuming same name, department, and credit hours) will replace your old grades straight away.
I don't think you'll have any trouble, it's just your school's particular policy on retakes. AACOMAS does not care what your UCI GPA is, that's why they calculate their own.

This, AACOMAS doesnt really care about anything but the grade you get and credits assigned. They do their own calculations.

So you're saying, even if UCI says they won't give me any units/credits for the classes taken, as long as on my transcript it shows that I took a class that was worth a certain amount of units, AACOMAS would still take it?

if so, this is great news!
