I have at interview at the University of Kansas on January 28th and will be flying into Kansas City, Missouri. Do you think I should call St. Louis University to ask if I will be awarded an interview invitation since I will be in the vicinity (at least I am flying into Missouri for my Kansas interview)? Please post your comments and thoughts here. I would appreciate any help you can give. Thanks.

definitely, it cant hurt. at the least it shows interest in the school.

thanks wexy for the comments. good luck in the admissions process!

UCLA, Defintely call them, on their site, SLU encourages applicants to do just that, call them if they are in the area.. go check it out, its one of hte few schools that i have seen actually encourage applicants to do that, i like that about them, they seem real and laid back. I have an interview on the 28th this month, so get one then! and ill see ya there! but honestly do call them up! goood luck! and good luck on ur other interview!

I think I'd word it differently. The way you phrased it, you should be given an interview just because you'll be around.

Yes. This worked for me. I actually lied about being in St. Louis because it had been a month and hadn't gotten many interviews. Of course, I had to scramble to get airfare, but it all worked out in the end.

When I called, I just said I'd be in the St. Louis area and was wondering where I stood for an interview. The admissions secretary didn't tell me anything over the phone, she just said she'd add the information to my file. A week later, I got an invite.
Good luck.

I think that this is a good idea, but keep in mind that Kansas City is about a 5 hour drive from St. Louis. You will need to rent a car in KC and drive or take a short flight ($100 ish).

Obviously this will save you a lot of money, but make sure you make enough time to interview, travel, etc.

Definitely go for it...I emailed them with the same situation and received a reply the same day. I think I wrote something about being in the area and asked if there was any way to find out if my file had been reviewed yet....blah, blah. Anyway it worked for me, I am interviewing on the 14th. Good luck!🙂
