Hey everyone,

my test is in 2 weeks and I have been doing fairly well on the DAT Destroyer.... get about 80% correct. However, I have a major concern. I find the kaplan online subject tests to be fairly difficult (getting 45-65% on the majority of them).

However, on the kaplan practice tests I have been getting 18's on bio, 17 and 15 on Gen Chem respectively and in the 20's in organic (as high as 25 in organic). I scored an 18 TS and 17 AA on the kaplan final. Why am i scoring so low on gen chem on the practice tests and so low on the subject tests online (the bio, gc, and organic)? did this happen to you considering you knew most of the destroyer problems?

are these scores OK? Thanks for the input everyone.

have you taken a topscore test?

I think it's pretty common to do well on Destroyer and then not do well in the Kaplan subject tests. They're pretty tough. I've seen a couple of threads that have people asking the exact same thing as you are.

No, I haven't taken any topscore tests.... I am very low on money and don't know if I can afford it at this time....

Yeah I saw some threads as well on this topic but they were very mixed and am not sure what to believe.... i personally think many of the kaplan questions are harder than the destroyers.... idk if anyone else has this feeling.... however, the kaplan practice tests full length are easier than the online mini subject tests IMO

So a lot of time when people talk about Kaplan and KBB on this forum, they arent talking about the online class and they don't have the online resources. The kaplan subject tests are hard, they are designed to be harder than the full length ones. And the kaplan full length exams are also hard.

I am kinda in the same boat and getting around 78-82% right in destroyer and kaplan gc/ochem are killing me. I think as long as you learn from your mistakes, it will be helpful no matter what.

lol thanks berr for the feedback.... I was thinking that may have been the case... its hard to tell if they are talkin about kbb or the online materials.... i just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one experiencing this.... best of luck to u bro

Same thing happened to me with Destroyer and Kaplan Subject Tests. I think Kaplan Subject Tests compared to the real DAT are a bit off target. Destroyer is more relevant so if you can do Destroyer, you should be fine. But, Kaplan Subject Tests do teach a lot of good info. When I did them, I didn't pay attention to scores. I just did them twice before the test to make sure I understood my mistakes. But, when you are closer to the test, focus on Destroyer. It is most relevant based on my DAT experience.

Just wondering, where does one find these subject tests? Are they made available publicly? Or are they only available with their course?

They come with the course and are part of the online material (the best part of the course).
