Is it possible to defer pharmacy school for a year and than decide not to go and reject your seat. If you decide not to go after defering will there be any legal consequences.

Not that I know of. Every school I have contacted says deferral is NOT an option. If you decide not to attend, you have to go back into the pool and re-apply.

Which means...if the next year's applicants are much stronger than the year in which you are accepted, you could be screwed.

Don't try to game the system...just apply and go, or wait and apply!

Campbell offered me a deferral for a year. I was required to put my deposit down and I'd have a seat guaranteed next year. I could of course decline it come next application season, but I'd lose my deposit. No legal charges.

If you are serving in the army, they let you defer a year or two if necessary.

Another case I've heard is where an applicant deferred because she had a baby and decided to defer.

Univ of Hawaii gave me a 1 yr deferral, and I turned down admissions the following year. You lose your deposit, which does not count towards the follwing year's tuition (should you accept). You will need a valid excuse such as a death, birth, etc. I wrote an email explaining the circumstance, and the school approved the request quickly.

When in doubt, contact the school and inquire.

Goodluck!

USN offers a year deferral. They give you a seat for next year..What school are you planning to deffer?
