Question about Detroit?

I was born and raised in Detroit. A lot people will say they're from Detroit but live in the wealthy suburbs. As for cork town, its kinda a corky area. Excuse my pun, but just like any area... you should watch your surrounding. Detroit has deteriorated over the past few years, but tons of money is being dumped into downtown renovations. For an out of towner you could stay in a downtown hotel, although that will be pricey. There are suburbs but not close to the school. Honestly I don't know where people live who go to school. I have friends that stayed out in the suburbs with their parents. Personally my house is right off 8 mile. Yes the same one from the movie. For someone who is interested in the school you sure do sound like you don't wanna be a part of the city. "Which area(town) is the most safest and wealthiest area near UDM where you don't feel like you are in Detroit? Safest and wealthiest, i wish I could talk like that.
