I'm looking to eventually apply to NYCOM down the road, under admissions, it says :

Biology – 8 semester hrs. including a basic course in general biology or general zoology (lecture and laboratory)

Question is that I have taken Bio 101 (4 semester hours) and Zoology (another 4, but did quite poorly in that) , but this semester I am taking the 2nd part of Bio, which is Bio 102 (4 sem. hours)

which gives me a total of 12 sem. hours....since ill already have 8 sem hours from bio 101 and 102, do i have to re-take that zoology over again in which i had a poor grade? any help/advice would be appreciated.

thank you

You do not HAVE to, but depending on how poor the grade was, you may want to consider taking it over again.

real poor.. D+ , i had a bad case of Mono halfway through that semester and had to miss 2 weeks....

so there's no way that grade wouldnt be included? is it EVERY class you've taken, no matter the relevance?

Yes, it is every class. In this case, I would recommend taking the class again.

thank you so much for responding twice....last question for you, or whomever...will med schools automatically frown upon retaking a few classes i did poorly in? or will it come across as determined? because there were a handul of classes i got C's in way back in my freshman year of college when I still hadn't grown up. Can/Should I take these over and everything will be in 'good-status' or is too late because they will see i've taken too many classes over.

sorry for the all the questions, ..just a hectic/scary time trying to figure out the rest of my life.

My opinion is to retake any required classes with low grades, and don't bother repeating anything else. If you want to show more good grades, take some recommended upper-division chemistry or biology courses.
