Hello all,

Should I receive a dental school acceptance on Dec 3rd (crosses fingers), could dental schools potentially take back the acceptance if I have dropped one or two courses this semester. I am re-planning to retake those one or two courses next semester. If I do so, I will be under hours for this semester (7 hours). However, I am doing research and working and only need the two course I am dropping to to graduate college (they are not pre-reqs for dental school).

I am just worried that I will potentially fail those two courses and would rather drop them then flunking. I already have two W's from previous courses. Your thoughts?

Much appreciated

i dont think any school will care, as long as its not a pre req for that particular dental school. relax.

Yeah, I am just concerned that they won't think I am capable of handling the rigors of dental school. Do you think think I should pass/fail? I am just worried about failing.

What's the point of retaking next semester if you already " get accepted to ds"? I recommend you to finish what you started and at least get C's..the W's on your record will look horrible and for sure demostrate that you are Not capable of keeping up with ds. What classes are you taking?

If any of these courses are Pre-reqs and you decide to pull out of them, expect ur acceptances to be pulled. At a recent interview, we were warned about this kind of stuff

I think before you start ds you need to provide them with transcrips again...

I'm also wondering a similar thing.

I've missed a lot of classes this semester due to interviews and am anticipating almost all B's in my classes this semester. I haven't gotten a B since sophmore year, so I'm worried that they're going to think I was "slacking off" and pull my letter since I have already demonstrated that I am capable of better than B work, yet got nothing but B's this semester. Will they actually care that much?

None of my current classes are pre-reqs. One of them is even a graduate level class.

I highly doubt that they will be offended by your B's 🙂

+1. At my Temple interview they REALLY stressed this. They said whatever anticipated courses you have for the spring on your ADSAS app, you HAVE to take.

Spring courses? As in 2013? Are u referring to pre reqs? Bc they told me they dont really care or consider spring courses unless theyre pre reqs

Yeah I am just concerned because I do work, research, and had to travel to different dental schools for interviews and I am worried about getting a C or even failing. I want to play it safe. They are not pre-reqs for DS but just for my degree. I figured rather just taking a semester off, I might as well continue in academia. I was hoping to take these classes (government and calc) at a community college along with histology and anatomy. What is everybody's take on this?

A little dramatic I think...

Yea, spring 2013 courses. Brian, who did the whole interview day, said this multiple times. If you listed anticipated courses on your app then you have to take them. I guess they wouldn't mind if you swapped one course for another, but if you listed all upper level bio courses and then switch to easy electives, that would be a problem.

He did say though that you could email him if you anticipated any changes.

I was actually wondering about this too, because right now I'm just taking classes not through my undergraduate institution. None of them are really required courses but are upper level bio classes. This semester, even, I had to change around my schedule because of class conflicts and some classes that aren't offered by the institution...I'm really wondering how that will work for next semester...
