Haha, I haven't seen anything on the MCAT that would even remotely require you to use chi square analysis.
basically lets say you wanted to see whether two genes are linked or not. we know a hybrid cross (Aa x Aa) of unlinked genes will give a 1:2:1 ratio. What if the numbers were 23:39:19. You would need to use the chi^2 equation and compare the value to a table to figure out your p value and determine from the null hypothesis whether it is linked or not... way beyond the score of the MCAT!
