I went to one of our local pharmacies today to ask about volunteering/shadowing. He is going to let me come in at my convenience and shadow him and learn the ropes per say. My question is, will Pharmacy schools look at "shadowing" as true experience? Thanks!

Yes! If you can talk about your experiences and talk about what you've learned, then yes.

👍 I remember in one of my interviews they asked me exactly where all the medications were kept and explain the workflow and everything...you know how immigration officer ask married people a lot of detail questions to see if they are really married and it's not just for better immigration status...That's how they approached it!

So are you still planning to take the MCAT?

Yep, this is great experience! However, many schools won't accept an LoR from a shadowing professional (but will from a volunteer supervisor) so just be careful about that.

Aside, go have a good time and pay close attention!

Is there a way to find out if the school accepts an LoR from a shadowing professional? Would I have to contact the school directly or is it somewhere on their website? Or, how would they know?

Best policy is to contact the school directly... www.pharmcas.org has some really great information but it's sometimes out-dated, so you could start there, but I mean, when it comes down to brass tacks, you want to hear it from the horse's mouth you know?

Write a 5-minute e-mail and clear it all up.
