Hello,
I am planing to apply FAMU for 2007 year but their web site is kinda confusing. Do they accept students who took prerequisite at other colleges or university? Coz they only describe transfer student (from other pharmacy school) and freshmen(from high school) on their website.
It seems like I have to fill out two application (one is state application and other one is supplemental). On the state applicaion, the personal statement must be written by freshmen only. Is that mean the student like me who took all prerequisite in other institution does not have to write the personaly statement on state application?
Also, is it relatively easy compared to other school? What stat do they require?

are you serious? you should read all the threads about famu. A whole bunch of us haven't even received decision letters yet. Although yesterday I received a promissory note for financial aid but I haven't been accepted yet. It is a hurry up and wait school. They cater to their students first and then they look at transfer students. It is meant to be a 6 year program, but they don't explain that on their website. Apply but apply to other schools as well! Trust me on this.

As far as the app goes...I don't know if they have changed it anything but I had to send in a state application and the supplemental. I didn't write a essay. I dont think and I sent in 2 paper copies of all my transcripts to them.

Hey you have to apply as a first time in college freshman. I have a BS and 1 extra year of pre-reqs so I was confused also. I called and they said I was a first time in college freshman. Plus I found out that they needed my SAT score (that's why I had an "incomplete application") I graduated high school 6 years ago, got a college degree and accomplished a lot of things but they needed my stupid SAT score. They wouldn't have taken it anyway because it's not the "new" SAT. So go ahead and apply if you want some BS in the future. I wouldn't have gone there even if I got in but I just didn't want to see my application fee go to waste!

hello:

I called FMAU and they told that they were going to change the application process, and if I applied now my application won't be considered. They said that on october 1 they will post the new procedure. 😕

I have been Florida over 3 yrs and don't know where it is.. You should consider choosing other schools in FL.

FAMU is in Tallahassee, near FSU.

wnnr, are you considered permanent resident since you said you are not an American? If you are not, you will be considered international and be charged out of state everywhere? If you are permanent resident, then you are considered in-state resident of Florida and UF will be considered in-state.

Are you Chinese?

IN Florida, go to UF over any other school. Very Simple. Cheapest program and the best in the Southeast U.S., if you do not consider UNC-Chapel Hill.

Famu is the cheapest by far. But UF is a much better school.

How much cheaper is FAMU? I thought that all state schools charged the same tuition fee that was dictated by the board of regents in Tallahassee.

My tuition has gone up every year. It was about $6,000 per year when I started and now I'm paying just over $8,000 per year, which includes summer session.

You do need to send 2 app's. Supplemental and one for the college.
The application that is up on the web now is for last year. I spoke with them this week & the said they will post the new 2007 application in October.
Just want to let you know b/c I sent out the one that's online now, and they actually sent it back & told me to wait for the new one that will be up next month.

Do you guys know if we need a form to go with our LORs like some other schools? I called a lady about a month ago about it, and she said no, but I just wanted to make sure since they're changing everything.

hello jaderok,

i m an asain student and moved to US about a year ago. i live extremely interested in attending famu, and i m goign to apply for the fall 2007.some people say that famu supports their people!? is it true?

i take my pre reqs at a CC, and my stats is
science/math gpa 3.9
overall gpa : 3.87
non science gpa: 3.83 (i think)
with this stats can i get into famu? i called them and they told me that you can get in only if u have an overall of 3.9. so does that menat that a gpa as high as 3.87 is also not enough for them? they have confused me.

and i have taken the pcat but did really poor on the english part, i could hardly get those analogies correct, because it had so many new words, i never heard of.so i m sure i m not going to get in UF.

HELLO,
i m a new member and would like to ask u some questions. please forgive me if i make some english errors, because i m as asian so,
it seems like u go to UF currently, but did u apply to famu before? did u get in? if yes, what was yuor gpa? and do they care if we have taken pre-reqs at a CC or uni.

do u know the stats of their admitted students last yr? i checked at the pharmcas website, but it was "nr" for famu, which means not reported!😡

ya, i called FAMU too, and they said the same thing to me. there was a rude person on the phone that day, they said it was very very difficult to get in as a "transfer student". last year they rejected people with GPAs as high as 3.9. i thought the person was telling lie, is it true?

no no, very true they didn't even contact me and i had a 3.5

its true. My friend with GPA of 4.0 didn't get into FAMU pharmacy program. i am not going to waste my time and money on FAMU.

really? a 4.0. wow! and your friend still did not get in!!!!! was he/she a florida resident? did he get into UF?

in general, does famu mention a reason for rejection in the "rejection letter" or just simply say that u r rejected?

it's b/c they are 0+6 year program so they take there 3.0 student before they take others.

No, I did not apply to FAMU. They are a 6-year school and only accept transfers to take the place of students who dropped out of the program. Many people apply to FAMU because they do not look at PCAT scores. But, because they have so few seats it is hard to get in there.

FAMU doesn't seem to ever list their stats. If the verbal section of the PCAT was your only weak section, you may still get in other schools that look at PCAT scores. Don't rule them out.
