so this past spring semester, I talked to one of my school's social psychology professors and he offered me the opportunity to join his research team this coming school year. i told him i would love to. but i was unable to start this summer because i'm still studying for the DATs, so I may/may not actually participate in his research in the fall, depending on how fast he thinks I can catch up. Should I include this future research on my application? How bad will it be if I go to an interview and they ask about it and I tell them it didn't happen?

Can you imagine how you'd feel when they ask "so what skills did you develope in your research that will prepare you for dental school"?

You have absolutely nothing to gain, so just be 100% honest that you would like to participate in a research effort with a professor that offered you a position.
