I'm about to enter medical school, and am interested in radiation oncology. However, my wife is geographically limited to the DC area. Am I in a hopeless situation since radiation oncology is such a competitive field. There are other areas of oncology that interest me, so I'm assuming that I can do IM or Peds and then a fellowship. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Im not quite sure what your question is, but if its "is it a hopeless situation" then of course not; youre just beginning medical school. Do well, and you can stay regional in all liklihood.

im not sure if youre asking if you can do a rad onc fellowship with an IM or peds residency. the answer is no. its a full 4 years following an intern year... or even following a full residency. Its not a field done as an adjunct fellowship after residency elsewhere.
