I'm graduating next year from a Pennsylvania pharmacy school and wish to get licensed in NY. Besides the NAPLEX that I'll take in PA after graduation and the compounding I'm all set for, I'm confused about the MPJE (part 2) for NY. On the NY BOP website it says you need 6 months of internship hours (1040hrs) to sit for it. I'm guessing that's from APPEs.

Well, in PA you need to get 750 independent hours on your own regardless of the fact we do about a little under 1500 APPE hours through school. Now that's to get licensed in PA, but I thought If I went to NY (or anywhere else), the PA BOP would report all 1500ish hours to NY, but one of our teachers said even if we transfer our hours to another state, PA will still only report the 750... That completely confused me. Does that mean I still need 290 more hours (1040-750=290) ? 😕

Anyone who went to school in PA and then got licensed in NY, can you let me know? I do have independent internship hours (enough to cover the 290 if need be), but I was talking to other people from PA who wont have any independent hours upon graduation.

Hi
To the above poster, I am in the same exact situation (PA school looking to go to NY). I believe you need to get the 1040 hours from work experience, exclusive of the APPEs.

How can that be right? I always thought NY didn't require any hours outside of what you earn from APPEs. NY pharmacy students don't need to do any independent hours...
