question about GPA

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
as far as i know, the only and best way to raise undergrad GPA is to do a post-bacc program.

tons of info regarding post-bacc in this forum, do a search and you should find something. for the starter, check out the website, http://hpap.syr.edu/LISTPB.HTM

Okay this might sound stupid. I have a 3.8 overall and 2.9science. Havent taken physic or bio yet. ALL the physics teachers at my school from what I hear SUCK. Should I go ahead and graduate next year and go to a post bacc? Or should I take the classes?

thats a stupid idea just go ahead and take the classes

ANYONE ELSE HAVE ANY ADVICE BESIDES BUBBA? THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR REAL..NO JOKE

Take the classes. If you don't do well, post bacc is an option, though they're really designed for people who haven't taken pre-med requirements at all.

GPA padding isn't exactly looked upon favorably among adcoms, if its obvious that you're doing it.

If the teachers "suck," do what you have to do outside of class to make up for it. Most adcoms are going to wonder why your non-science GPA is almost a full point lower than your cumulative GPA. It should be similar or higher to show that you can handle the classes that med school offers.

take the classes in summer time at a junior college or at an easy 4 year school (if you go to a big state school sometimes the branch schools are easier). This probably won't be looked at favorably if you take the classes at a JUCO. If you do take this you need to do well on the MCAT to show that you didn't slide by in the classes w/o mastering the material. My school has some medical information type classes that teach you how to search for information on databases etcl, supposed to be easy. Observational astronomy is a pretty easy physics, and fun too.
