If someone has to take a class that doesn't carry any GPA weight at the university they took it at (e.g., a freshman "academic success in math" type of class), how does AACOMAS deal with the grades for those kinds of courses? Do they still factor the grade into the applicant's GPA, even though the applicant's university specifies on the transcript that it doesn't carry any GPA weight?

Thanks...

Your answer is actually on the site, however to give a hint these courses are typically 0 credit courses and if you didn't get a grade it kind of makes it hard for AACOMAS to give you one. Now if it was a credit class and you received a grade for it on the transcript (even if the university did not calculate your overall gpa with the class) AACOMAS will still look at it like any other course and it will be factored into your gpa.

Thanks for the info..... unfortunately, I did receive a grade for it from my university, so I guess that means AACOMAS will factor it into my GPA.

Do you also have credit hours for it on your transcript? If "0" then the grade won't actually count.

The transcript shows that the grade is worth 4 credits, but it has a "<" next to the "4," which is the university's way of denoting that the credits count towards my GPA. The question is, how will AACOMAS perceive the "<?" Will they simply count it as a 4-credit course towards my applicant GPA?

Just checked my transcript again -- the course is worth 0 quality points. Not sure if that makes a difference....?

You might email aacomas about it, but that could be argued for it not to count. Typically they count grade with credits, but if you don't want it to count ask and never know.
