Hey everyone,

So I am taking the DAT June 15th and starting to study next week. I am going to use breakdowns that I have seen on here such as chads videos, destroyers etc but I had a question about whats the most effective way to study. Should I mix up the subjects I study everyday? Like gen chem, orgo, and bio in one day? Or just focus on one? I plan on studying 8 weeks straight for about 8 hours a day with maybe a day off every week.

Thanks!

Here is what I did, it may work for you,

Take a practice test, see how you do and find out which subjects give you trouble,
then go to the textbook and study those areas (should come back to you pretty quickly as long as you learned it in class)
For biology, read the Cliff's AP bio book on the subjects that give you trouble, but for physiology you may have to open the physio text book.

Take practice tests weekly and really get a feel for timing and find the areas you're weak in.
Last month, start simulating the science section by using DAT destroyer. YOU WILL GET DESTROYED. Learn why each question is right and why the other answer choices are wrong.
practice practice practice, look at Chad's videos. Study Ferali's notes.

Keep taking practice tests, I didnt really study Math, since I did 100 questions in destroyer and only missed few permutation ones.

It depends on how you study. What I did would study a little bit of each subject a day so that I wouldn't get bored. I was most nervous about the biology section (because there is so much to know) so I spent a lot of my time on it. I would maybe read something with cliffs and then go through a bunch of destroyer questions. I would define each answer choice and pay close attention to the answer key.

Going through old breakdowns to see what worked for other people is a great idea! I would pick which ones that you like and modify them for yourself (you know how you study better than anyone)

At some point in the middle, if you think you are prepared enough, take the 2007 ADA exam to see how you're doing. After some more studying take the 2009 ADA exam (this is usually seen as a better gauge of how you will fair). Good luck to you!

What should I use for a lot of test? Like which is the best indicator other than the ADA exams?

So far so good. I've spent 2 weeks studying so far and I'm starting to hit 20's on Crack DAT, Bootcamp, and Topscore. I HIGHLY recommend DAT and Math Destroyer. Yes, like the person above said, you will get destroyed, but you will learn. Definitely do these practice problems.

I've used:
Bio: AP Bio Cliffnotes, DAT Destroyer,Feralis Notes, Anki Flashcards, made a list of hormones/important anatomical structures that I've seen recur on my practice exams... it seems Physio is really big on the DAT. Physio and Cell Bio.

Gchem: Chad's Videos and DAT Destroyer.

Ochem: Chad's Videos and DAT Destroyer. STUDY THE ROADMAPS. I will guarantee you that you'll be able to tell which reagents do syn and anti additions and whatnot! DO IT. And I also made flashcards on what EDGs and EWGs are.

PAT: Crack DAT PAT
Reading Comp: DAT Bootcamp
QR: DAT Bootcamp, Chad's quizzes, DAT Destroyer, Math Destroyer

Full Length Tests: Topscore and DAT Achiever.

I took the Kaplan Course and tbh it felt like a complete waste of money. DAT Destroyer is a must have. Good luck. I study for 10+ hours a day, 7days a week. I've taken only 1 rest day out of my 2 weeks that I've studied, and I still lightly studied... haha.

I would recommend taking frequent naps. I take naps after studying sections like Bio and Ochem so that I could retain the information better. 😉

Can you give me a break down on what you do everyday? And how often you take practice test? I plan to start on Monday by beginning with Chads videos for GC, reading OC as a second language book, and last for Bio by starting to read Cliffs AP Biology. Then when I am done with Chads videos I will start the destroyer for that. For OC I will start Chads Videos when I am done reading the book then Destroyer. For Bio I will start destroyer after reading Cliffs. Should I study 2 hours for a subject then move to another one? How should I incorporate reading comprehension, QR, and PAT into this? I have about 8 weeks to study I plan on studying about 8 or so hours a day for 6 days a week.

Thanks so much for the help!
