Is there anyone got an invitation from the school? or anyone know when
they will send invitations?

For those of you waiting on Howard University, I pray this is not the only school you applied to. Yes, the schools disorganization sucks being that the secratary is officially a one person team who does everything and it is so so sad. Most of their faculty and staff are currently at University of Maryland Eastern Shore helping to implement that school. For those of you who went on interviews, I'm sure your experience did not make that much of an impression. And for those of you anticipating them, continue to go on other interviews so that when you recieve theirs it will be your last choice. Never settle for less, because the sky is truly the limit. Being a recent Howard Graduate myself, I know God has a better place for my pharmacy profession and I am sure to obtain it in due time. I pray all of you get into extraordinary instutitions, but if God does tell you to study there be ready for alot of unnecessary problems that I wouldn't want for my worst enemy to undergo.

WOW! you make Howard sound like a trash school!!!! sheesh, is it really that bad? What's the basis for your comment? I thought Howard was one of the more prestigious schools.......

I went to the interview last year and it was very disorganized. There was a lot is standing around and waiting. I also heard from a current student that the class and the way notes and lectures are organized, it's hard to find and get access to. If Howard is my only choice, I wouldn't mind going there though, it's still and accredited pharmacy school.

The school is not good at all. I am glad i am not going there. I had an interview on october 14th 2009 and i have nt heard anything from them yet not even a rejection letter.

Just got a letter from Howard saying that they have received my PharmCAS materials... many months after they were sent and I heard back from other schools. It also said I was missing a requirement that I know I have completed and was not an issue with any other schools. I'll send an email to ask about that, but more and more I'm agreeing with everything said in this thread.

Also, on Howard's PharmCAS page, the semester hours needed are a bit.. off.. right? How does one take 9 hours of organic chem with lab? Unless they want more than Orgo 1 and 2..

Basis I have alot of basis. I went to Howard undergrad and have over 7 cousins at the pharmacy school currently. Trust me prestigious is far from what you may imagine. Go to the interview and judge for yourself. But, wherever God grants application you should go. And yes they were definitely on probationary period my sophmore year!!

I interviewed there on Oct 14 (submitted my pharmcas in August). It was ok... if it was the ONLY school I got into... I would go there. The people are nice, it was just unorganized and it felt like the pharmacy school was just there and no one really cared.

Hmmm... nooo... Howard consistently has one of the lowest NAPLEX passing rates. And as Rxlea mentioned, I think they were put on probation because the 2005 passing rate was just above 50% which is just remarkably awful and embarrassing. In their defense, they were able to fix it up a little. But obviously their program isn't rigorous enough to prepare them for pharmacy practice. I'm sure it's some terrible coincidence, but the 2 pharmacists that used to float in my store that were recent grads from Howard were fired based on ethical issues...

I don't like to speak badly about any school unless I have had a truly bad experience with them. But in regards to their admissions office, this has to be one of the worst I've come in contact with.. The lady was very rude and unpleasant to speak with.. just very difficult to work with. I was baffled. I won't judge the school based on her alone, because that wouldn't be fair, but it was unfortunate that she was one of the deterrents for me. I received an interview offer in October but decided to cancel my application after I've heard from other schools. I'm sure to some people though, it can be a great school. Good luck to those interviewing here. 🙂

Wasn't Howard on some sort of probationary period for accreditation?

Based on all this feedback, it is clear that Howard is one of the lower tier schools. Thanks for the input, I had no idea the school was ran this badly. I'm glad to hear everyone's feedback, because i was overly invested in this school.

I interviewed and got into Howard and ended up choosing UNC for pharm school. In their defense, the students in the pharmacy school at Howard seemed to really like the school and did not really have any complaints. Yes, I think they could have done a MUCH better job with the organization of the interview, which I would say they did the bare minimum but I do think the school warrants a closer look beyond the interview process to see if it is a good fit for you.

Howards Naplex scores are way up post-probation and their pharmacy school looked like a tight knit community due to the smaller class size. So in other words I would suggest taking a closer look at Howard, and especially get a chance to talk to current students/recent grads to get a good look at the pros/cons of going there.
