From my past experiences - A LOT of professors tend to just use all the diagrams/pictures from that Immuno book so the need for it is not even there. 80% powerpoints were the exam same thing you found in the books...

So I never opened mine. I resold it to an MS1. He never opened it, either.

If you have any trouble with immuno - get How the Immune System Works. Short and sweet, it's very basic, but solid foundation.

Immunology was a course for which I found having the recommended text very useful. I actually read the entire textbook. It was Basic Immunology by Abbas. Great, easy-to-read text.

My situation was similar but somewhat opposite. A lot of lecturers used the diagrams from the recommended text, but the description in the textbook was often far better than the quick one we got in class. That book (Abbas' Basic Immunology) was basically my savior in immuno, because going to class felt like being thrown into an upper level foreign language class to me.
