I have been told that once an applicant has received an interview offer, they are only based of off the interview (Everything else has already been taken into account)?

It depends on the school. If you receive an interview then you already have the stats to get in, now they want to see your personal communication skills and not just stats.

jeremy's right - depends on the school. the one i applied to (canada) holds 'closed-file' interviews, meaning once you're granted one the rest of the admission decision depends pretty much solely on your interview performance and they generally won't look at your marks/ECs any further. there are some that say 50% interview, 50% GPA ..something along those lines.

I interviewed a fer different ways.

At one school the interviewers only had my name- from there it was up to me to impress upon them who I was.

The dean of that school said that we were graded on the interviews and those numbers were thrown into some algorithm/matrix for rating applicants. They also

At another interview the interviewers had my entire application and asked me questions about it directly. In that situation the interviewer could prejudge based on numbers alone.

I feel that once you have an interview they have ok'd you up to that point (to agree with JeremyE30). The interview is to assess communication and your desire to become a pharmacist... Which is VERY important to schools.

thats not really true, i know for the schools that i interviewed at, they take the whole pool of the interviewees for that batch and look at their whole file, but interview plays a HUGE part though in their decision. I have friends who got rejected from schools just based on their interviews. I have experience in this department too 🙂 but usually during interview just try to be yourself. they know you're going to be nervous. but just show that you are really passionate about pharmacy!

Most of the time, if you didn't have the grades you don't get the interview. Once you finish the interview, they score your application+interview as a whole.

So yes, you can get rejected based on application or interview alone.

Btw, fastest way to find yourself in the reject pile after a interview, is to screw up the ethical portion of a interview. Usually ethical questions make up one or two questions of a interview, and if you get it wrong, the rest of your application won't save you from the reject/alt/waitlist pile.
