I have a question for all of you that have gone through the interview process. I play football for a division 2 school. So football takes up most of my time during the fall. Basically from August to early December. So my question is when do interviews go on? Are there any in the beginning of August. Would it matter that I couldnt interview until mid December? Would this hurt my chances for being accepted? Thanks for your time

Interviewing earlier means that you're competing for more spots. The general consensus is that the earlier you finish your applications and interview, the better chance you have of getting in.

If your application is very strong, then you probably don't have to worry about it; but if it's fairly average for an accepted student, it's probably in your best interest to interview as early as you can.

Edit: I think the earliest interviews are mid to late August. I think I saw the 17th for Vanderbilt.

That's a good question - I looked into that because I want to study abroad the fall after I apply. According to the admission officers that I spoke to at a number of schools, you can confirm an interview as soon as the school starts offering them in early August, waiting until December or January to have the interview. No school would admit that this will hurt my chances, but because most schools have rolling admissions, I think it may hurt a little bit. I wouldnt worry to much about that, especially if there is nothing you can do about your demanding football schdule. Good luck 👍

say you get interview invite(s) soon, you can always just schedule them for the beginning of january. that's still relatively early for interviews and i doubt that will hurt your chances at all.

make a choice: which one is more important? football or medschool

if you get an interview invite before December, that means you are in the early-mid interview season, implying greater chance of getting in. Also, when they give you an invite, it doesn't mean they can interview you the very next day, you might have to schedule for a time 2-3 wks from receiving the letter. So if you don't start interviewing till Dec, your application is pushed back and your chances diminish.

So make a choice, I had to schedule interviews around midterms and finals. Believe me, I crammed like hell once I got back.

So make a choice, which one is more important for you in the future?
