I can't seem to find a thread about this. Those of you who will be working full time... how would you schedule time off for interviews? Which schools if any have weekend interviews? Would a prospective school be willing to have interviews on a weekend or holiday? I am working full time and have very few vacation days, would schools understand?

I think almost every school has interviews only on weekdays. I really doubt they would do anything on Saturdays, because that means people would have to work on a Saturday. Anyways, if you're serious about a place, they assume you are willing to take a day off work. Maybe you could have a Monday interview, and go on a Sunday evening, so you only miss one day of work. 😕

UT southwestern interviews only on Saturdays...the only school I know that does

I work full-time and just took vacation days off to go to my interviews. Granted I'm in TX and all my interviews so far were just a few hours away by car. But the way I figure it, med school is my future, not my job, so I should be willing to sacrifice a little to get to med school.

I'm working full-time during my application year. I'm doing research at a university and they knew when they hired me that I was applying so I'm lucky.. I don't think schools will be willing to interview on holidays or weekends either. Also, you'd probably get a better feel for the school when actual students were there and buildings were open....Sucks I know but I hope everything works out for you.
:luck:

Univ. of Michigan has some Saturday interviews. Working full-time sucks. I will use up all my vacation days by the first week of October and may have to take unpaid leave. But sometimes bosses will let you work overtime to make up for the days you were gone.
