I'm using the 7-book series.

At 1st glance, the Genetics (in the biochem/genetics kaplan book) didn't seem 'complete'.

Any opinions/advice from the high-scorers here about the Kaplan genetics? If it's not a 'good' genetics source, what do you recommend?

Also, I heard the Microbiology in Kaplan was good, but how about the Immunology? I'm relatively weak in Immuno and I was wondering if I should go with the Kaplan Immuno or use High-Yield Immunology?

Answers/advice for these questions will be appreciated.

i actually heard micro for kaplan is not weak, rather way too detailed and too much for usmle.

for what it is worth, most ppl i know, didnt like kap. micro and ended up using FA and micro made ridi simple book and did very well on usmle

whether a resource is overkill ("too much for usmle") or not depends on the score that you are aiming for. I used the 4-series kaplan books, and thought that the genetics, micro and immuno sections were very detailed, comprehensive and well-written. I'm sure that the 7-series kaplan books are comparable, since some SDNers have done well using them (Pinkertinkle comes to mind).

^^ Yeah I agree.

I don't care about the Kaplan micro being "too much", as I am sticking to one series and since I can use all the "detail" as I can. (I'll use Goljan for pathology, though).

So the Kaplan Micro is good.

And you also say the Immuno is good as well, huh? What do you think about the High-Yield Immunology book?

Much thanx in advanced.

What do you think about the High-Yield Immunology book?

I did not use this book, so I can not comment. You should definitely check it out, since most of the HY books are a quick read.
