I just dished out the $1,200 bucks to take the Kaplan Review Course this summer. It has been two years since I graduated with a BS in Biology & minor in Chemistry. I feel like I have forgotten a lot of the chemistry, so I figured this would be a structured way to prepare me for August. Anyone out there that has taken the Kaplan Course, please give me your opinion of how well it prepared you for the test & did you see improvements in your scores? Thanks, any and all opinions welcome. Please be honest as possible!

I took a Kaplan review because it had been twenty years since I had any science. For me the most helpful feature was the review books. I have always been good at multiple choice tests. I went from a 27 total (12V,7PS,8BS) at the beginning to a 32 on the real thing (11V,10PS,11BS). My scores on the MCAT were pretty close to my practice scores at the end of the course. My friends that just took the MCAT went from 20-22 pre-Kaplan to 28-29 at the end. They haven't heard what they got on the real thing. Hope this helps.

Kaplan was very helpful; however, doing well on the MCAT depends on how much personal study time you put in. I found that the classes were not as helpful as their extensive library of practice exams. The best way to practice for the Big Day is to simulate the full exam as many times as possible. It is not only a test of thinking skills but also a test of endurance. Overall, Kaplan was very helpful and I would recommend taking the class!

If it makes you feel better about your purchase, I thought the tests that focus on your weakness were the best tools I could have had. I got a 24 on the first MCAT ppractice exam and a 32 10,10, 12 on the real thing.
