This is kind of a dumb situation, but I can't really get a good answer from anyone at my school and I have to decide what to do so I can finalize my fourth year schedule.
I've looked at programs and it seems that some require 3 LORs and some require 4. My plan is to collect 4 and then decide which to use for the programs that require 3. For the 4 LORs:
1.) I'm doing a year of research and will get a letter from my PI (who is a psychiatrist).
2.) I will probably get a medicine letter from my medicine clerkship (I am not doing a medicine sub-I).
3.) I am thinking of doing a peds sub-I (I want to apply to fast track C&A programs) and could try to get a letter from that.
4.) For my final letter, I can either get it from my psych clerkship (during this clerkship I worked directly with the attending, no residents, was the only student and did very well, he liked me a lot, and I'm pretty sure the letter would be very good) or I can get one from a psych sub-I.
My question is this: would it be better to use the psych sub-I letter because it's a sub-I? Or does it not matter, since most schools don't offer a psych sub-I anyway? Or should I get a letter from both the sub-I and the clerkship and forget about the peds letter?
Thanks for the help.
