I have tons of questions about major and dental schools' requirements.

Okay, I go to community college now. This semester is my first year attending college. Actually, I haven't declared the major yet.
I really want to go to transfer to one of UC schools, and go to grad. school for dental program.

I heard that it is not necessary to major in science field such as biochem., bio., and chemistry in order to get accepted in dental grad. school.
I know that it might have low possibility to get accepted comparing to students who were majoring in science fields, however, I am not a lot interested in majoring in science, but I am willing to take pre-requirements classes for grad. school.

So I am planning to major in Psychology. As long as, I met all pre-req. classes and am I okay to apply for grad. school?

What are the courses that dental schools require students to complete before they are applying (when they're in undergrad. school?

Thanks 🙂

you should check the school's website for the pre req courses. I think that most of them have 2 semesters of general chemistry, 2 sem of organic chemistry, 2 sem of biology, 2 sem of english, 2 sem of physics, and math. science courses should have lab.
some schools also prefers higher level chem and biology courses.
good luck!!

It doesn't really matter what your major is, as long as you do the pre-reqs and carry a heavy load to show you can handle the sciences. I would take more than the pre-reqs. I would also suggest transferring to a 4 year institution as soon as possible. Sometime dental schools will not accept community college science credits.

I can say, if you are not interested in science, dentistry might not be a good idea. Its okay if you are really interested in majoring in something else but if you do not like science then undergrad combined with dental school is going to be miserable!
