Hi,

I was wondering is it possible to matriculate into a medical school while applying to the next class cycle at another school--and if you end up not liking the school you are at and get accepted to another, drop out and attend the new school the following year? I know this may not be ethical, I was wondering if there are rules against this and such?

Thanks.

not to be rude- but what do you expect? Of course the answer is no. You can't have it both ways.

If you want to apply to transfer as a second year, then yes you can do that. But who wants to half ass a year at med school and then start over again? And how are you even going to be able to do any interviews or even have time for secondaries?

But legally, this is impermissible to apply to be another ms1 while you're in med school.

When you start a sentence off like that it's usually a bad sign......

Well, I think the 'rules' against this are known as common sense. Think it through a little bit. Are you going to be flying around the country in the middle of your MSI year? What will you tell other schools you are doing? And, what would you tell the school you matriculated at?

The thing about medicine is that your reputation and your behavior actually count for alot. If you do loopy things people will consider that very seriously. In this case, I would imagine that you would be thrown out of all the schools and then you would have no school. Choose a school, matriculate and then count your blessings that you actually got in somewhere.

Well actually this is a moot point becuase once you are accepted into med school it will be known to every other med school (By way of AMCAS). That is why if you are accepted into more than one school, you have to send an email to the schools you will not attend declining admission before the school you chose can make your admission official.
If somehow you get the crazy idea to do something like that then every school you aplly to will immediately know you are a currently a med student and will not consider your app. BTW, be happy that you were accepted into any med school at all, you are b*tching and moaning about the med school you are in when probably that same school declined hundresd of qualified applicants before choosing you. In the end you only took the space of someone who is probably more deserving than you, with the only intention of getting into a "better" school. That is not only morally wrong But denotes a lack of character and good judgment. And believe me, med schools (including the one you currently attend) WILL take note.
