Hey guys,

So I took my first MCAT in May and wasn't satisfied with my score. I am currently studying again to retake it early August. With that being said, I submitted my primary very early and have been receiving secondaries from schools since yesterday. With that mind, has there ever been an occurrence where med schools will still send you an interview invite if they are satisfied with your stats (once you have submitted your secondaries) even though you have indicated you are retaking the MCAT?

If the answer is no, then is there a point to submit the secondaries within 2-3 weeks since my file probably won't be looked at by early September (when I receive my 2nd MCAT score)?

Thanks!

If you weren't satisfied with your score then the schools you applied to probably won't be either. I think most schools would put you on hold until your new MCAT scores come back.

Most schools will review your application with the score you already received and either grant you an interview if they like you already or put you on hold till your retake score comes in then reevaluate you at that time. There are some that will put your app on hold until they receive your retake score and then review your application in its entirety. Basically, you'd have to call the schools to know there specific policy regarding it.

I would say most hold onto you until your new score arrives, otherwise many ppl would apply with an OK score and take another one later, which could be an exploit.

Call them anyway to make sure

+1. If you indicate on AMCAS that you will be taking the MCAT again in August schools will place your application on hold until the scores have been received.

P.S. @H2bro Sweet username haha

Haha, thanks! I appreciate all of your input guys. Looks like I'll have to make a couple of calls to the schools.
